Now that CM Punk is BACK in the WWE, how are AEW taking it?

Similar to WWE, CM Punk’s Survivor Series 2023 comeback in AEW seems to have elicited a tame reaction from the

backstage crowd.

According to Fightful Select, AEW founder and CEO Tony Khan seemed more worried about Katsuyori Shibata’s

scheduled return to Japan than he did about his former World Champion joining the market leaders on Saturday,

when Punk launched his stunning, viral WWE comeback.

After losing his ROH Pure Championship last week, Shibata is rumored to be leaving the United States for “an

extended period” in Japan shortly. The tough-talking celebrity had worked mostly for Khan’s promotions for the

majority of the previous few years while based in the United States.

According to Fightful, the majority of responses within AEW have involved staff members asking about the backstage

reaction within WWE.

A few WWE wrestlers had inquired about Punk’s potential involvement in AEW’s current “Devil” narrative. According

to Fightful, Punk wasn’t even given a chance to be in that. The masked figure that has been bothering World Champion

MJF on television for months has not yet been fully revealed by AEW.

Punk made his first WWE appearance since 2014 at Survivor Series 2023.
