just in: A key player for the Miami Dolphins is expected to depart due to…

Although tackle Terron Armstead’s prognosis seems promising, the Miami Dolphins offensive line took some knocks both before and during Saturday’s preseason game against the Houston Texans.

In addition, the team saw De’Von Achane, a promising rookie running back, leave the game early in the third quarter due to a shoulder injury.

In addition to Armstead missing the first few minutes of the game due to injury, the Dolphins also started the game without guards Lester Cotton and Liam Eichenberg. Then, in the second quarter, guard Robert Jones left the game due to an injury sustained while providing pass protection.

When trainers arrived on the field to examine Jones, who is one of the competitors for the starting left guard position along with Eichenberg, Cotton, and Isaiah Wynn, Jones pointed to his right knee. When he left the field to go to the locker room, he was moving slowly.
The four-time Pro Bowl tackle posted on Twitter on Thursday, saying that he was focused on getting ready for the Dolphins’ Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium on September 10.

McDaniel stated, “He’s doing well,” following his team’s 28-3 victory on Saturday. “We didn’t do anything overly significant. Regarding a schedule, I’m not too concerned about it. All I’m concerned about is him getting better as quickly as possible, which I know he will.

Prior to the commencement of training camp this year, Armstead had minor knee surgery because injuries to his toe, knee, pectoral, and hip complicated his 2022 season, which was his first with the Dolphins.

Veteran Kendall Lamm started at left tackle for the Dolphins against Houston in Armstead’s absence.

During the joint practices with the Texans, Eichenberg did not participate in any team drills, so it was expected that he would not be in the starting lineup on Saturday. Cotton, however, participated in both team periods and joint practices, so that wasn’t the case.

“He had a minor issue,” McDaniel stated. He was eager to leave, but I didn’t think it was right for him to go through what he was going through and risk having a tape released that wasn’t representative of his recent play. We waited for him, but he was desperate to get onto the field, and we will be happy to oblige.

Wynn, who started at left guard, joined a starting left that included Austin Jackson, Robert Hunt, Connor Williams, and Lamm.
