The National Ice Hockey Team’s new captain replaces the outgoing one when he goes missing

In place of Kevin Constantine, who left over the summer despite having a contract in place, the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation has identified an internal replacement. Don MacAdam, the interim professional director, will continue in this role and take on the role of federation captain. Balázs Ladányi, who is now in charge of the U20 team, will help MacAdam, according to Magyar Nemzet.

With a contract that expires this summer, Kevin Constantine took a job in Canada, which left the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation (MJSZ) in a very hard position. The American professional’s departure has also placed his club squad in an awkward situation. The MJSZ filed a lawsuit, and Constantine was not exempt from punishment. One member is the Western Hockey League (WHL).

Due to what the official language referred to as “discriminatory and derogatory remarks,” Constantine was suspended for two years as head coach of the Wenatchee Wild by the Western Hockey League (WHL), a member of Canada’s premier junior hockey league. The MJSZ announced on their website that Don MacAdam will take over as head coach of the men’s national team until the end of the current season, therefore ending the Constantine chapter in Hungarian hockey forever.

MacAdam is well-versed in the hockey community. He first gained recognition in Hungary as the head coach of the Romanian team Csíkszereda. In 2019, Ferencváros invited him to take on the role of professional director of youth development. In 2021, he was named development director of the MJSZ, and subsequently sports director.
