Two referees to retired from the game of snooker after SNOOKER MASTER 2024 due to……

“WHAT A WAY TO FINISH”: Referee Brendan Moore will conclude his 19-year Snooker career following the World Championship Final.

Later this month, Brendan Moore will oversee his third World Championship final before hanging up his cues following a 19-year career in green baize snooker. Moore intends to transition to pool, but he understands the prestige that comes with calling the greatest game in the sport. “Even thinking about it makes me emotional,” remarked Moore, a world finals referee in 2014 and 2018.

After officiating his third global snooker final at the Crucible Theatre later this month, referee Brendan Moore is scheduled to switch from snooker to pool.
The 51-year-old match official from Sheffield will conclude his career in his hometown after officiating the biggest games in the sport on Sunday, April 30, and Monday, May 1.

“In any case, I’m a pretty sentimental person, and I don’t mind showing my vulnerability. Moore, who is slated to take on the role of tournament director for Matchroom Pool, described the occasion as “bittersweet.”
It’s impossible to end on a higher note than the world final, and this will be my third. What a way to end.I’m starting to feel emotional just thinking about it. It will be strange to go out for the very final time, especially without my dad present.
But I’m not going to let it stop me from doing my work; I’ll finish it and deal with whatever comes after. I’m excited about a fresh start and a fresh challenge.

Michaela Tabb is a Scottish pool and snooker referee who was born on December 11, 1967. She started off in pool, officiating at prestigious events like the Mosconi Cup and the WPA World Nine-ball Championship, setting important records for female officials in professional cue sports. For the following 14 years, she was the most well-known female referee in the sport after qualifying to officiate on the World Snooker Tour in 2001. In the Welsh Open of 2002, she became the first female referee for a professional ranking snooker event, and in the Welsh Open of 2007, she became the first female officiant for a ranking tournament. As of 2022, she is the only woman to have officiated the World Snooker Championship final, which she did twice, in 2009 and 2012.

Tabb departed the professional snooker tour in March 2015 following a dispute with the sport’s commercial arm, World Snooker Ltd, against which she initiated a case alleging sex discrimination, unjust dismissal, and breach of contract. In September 2015, the parties came to an out-of-court settlement whereby World Snooker Ltd. gave Tabb an amount of money that was not disclosed. She has persisted in officiating World Seniors Tour events and pool competitions.

Tabb used to play pool as well. She participated in the women’s eight-ball pool circuit in the 1990s and early 2000s, winning several titles both as a lone player and as a member—and eventually captain—of the Scottish Ladies’ Pool Team.
