WST Adds First-Ever Xi’an Grand Prix to 2024–25 Calendar, Adding New China Event

The new Xi’an Grand Prix world ranking tournament will bolster the World Snooker Tour’s successful return to China in 2024–2025.

The tournament will be the first-ever WST event held in the historic city of Xi’an in China’s Shaanxi Province and will be held under a new multi-year arrangement with the Chinese Billiards and Snooker Association and Shaanxi Sports Industry Group Limited.

The Xi’an Grand Prix, which takes place from August 19–25 in its first year, will have a total prize money of £850,000 with a £177,000 top prize. In the following years, the prize money will rise to £875,000 and ultimately £900,000.

The capital, Xi’an, is home to 13 million people.

For our players and supporters, this is wonderful news as we continue to grow internationally and, in particular, as we expand into China. For the first time since 2019, we were able to hold events in mainland China during the 2023–2024 season, and it was a huge success. We had three world ranking events in addition to one invitation tournament, and the cities we visited welcomed us with open arms.”
