QB Kyle Allen signs a one-year contract with the Bills.
QB Kyle Allen has agreed to a one-year contract with the Bills, the organization announced on Thursday.

With the Houston Texans, Allen finished the 2022 season with two starts, 416 passing yards, and two touchdowns.

Allen has made 23 game appearances (19 starts) in his five years in the NFL. With 4,734 yards and 26 touchdowns, the quarterback’s pass percentage is 62.6.

In 2018, Houston native Allen signed as an undrafted free agent with the Carolina Panthers. The native of Scottsdale played two seasons with the Washington Commanders (2020–21), two with the Panthers (2018–19), and two with the Texans (2022–2022).

QBs Matt Barkley and Kyle Allen could be cut by the Bills.
A scenario where the Buffalo Bills could move on from both backup quarterbacks was suggested by NFL.com. Who would take their place?
The Buffalo Bills will soon need to decide who will be the team’s backup quarterback as the preseason draws to a close.

The first two preseason games for the Bills have seen ups and downs for both quarterbacks, Matt Barkley and Kyle Allen. Is it possible for neither guy to make Buffalo’s roster, though?

Allen and Barkley were on NFL.com’s list of players who could be released when it broke down possible trades and cut candidates around the league.

NFL.com reports, “I could see Buffalo moving on from both, but that would be contingent on another veteran quarterback becoming available — perhaps someone they’ve worked with before (last year’s backup, Case Keenum, by chance?). It’s been evident for a few weeks now that the Bills don’t appear too comfortable with their QB options behind Josh Allen.” Josh Allen does require a backup, after all.”

Following Buffalo’s opening preseason encounter with the Indianapolis Colts on August 12, Barkley appeared to take control after replacing Kyle and completed 14 of 15 throws for 172 yards and two touchdowns. In Buffalo’s 23-19 victory, Kyle completed 8 of 15 passes for 122 yards and threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown.
