Snooker legend Stephen Hendry has appointed as the new….

I’ve been missing the hype: Stephen Hendry, a seven-time world champion, is set to make a stunning comeback to snooker at the age of 51, eight years after retiring, after accepting an opportunity to return to the professional ranks following impressive results in senior events.

After eight years in retirement, Stephen Hendry is attempting an incredible comeback to the highest level of snooker.

With a record seven world titles won at the Sheffield arena, the 51-year-old is still regarded as the King of the Crucible.

The Scot had a decade of almost complete domination in the 1990s, but his form and drive began to flag in 2012, so he packed away his cue.
However, after working with alignment and sighting coaching master Stephen Feeney, Hendry put on his greatest performances in years at the most recent World Seniors. That convinced him to reenter the professional ranks by accepting the World Snooker Tour’s offer of a two-year invitational wildcard.Although the Championship League draw has already been completed, Hendry’s first event of eligibility is the European Masters, which takes place a week after the season begins on Sunday. That will be held at Milton Keynes, just like the other eight tournaments on the schedule.

For a long time, Hendry was regarded as the best player.
