Major injury blow:Star player a serious doubt for the match between OKC thunder vs Phoenix Suns.
|OKC Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Listed As Doubtful Against Suns
The Oklahoma City Thunder (50-22) are preparing for a game against the Phoenix Suns on Friday, which will mark the end of their short home stand before they head out on a lengthy journey east. Superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made a shocking revelation this week when he revealed that he has been nursing a quad injury he sustained on March 20 after being knocked out against the Utah Jazz. Gilgeous-Alexander, who played with discomfort for three games, missed Wednesday’s game against the Houston Rockets because of a thigh contusion; head coach Mark Daigneault has classified him as day-to-day.
Prior to their game against the Suns on Friday, the Oklahoma City Thunder have
designated their lucky player, guard Gilgeous-Alexander (quad), as doubtful.
The Thunder struggled to get going against the Houston Rockets and needed
a significant portion of the first quarter to settle into a rhythm due to the injury
to their main player. Ultimately, the game went into overtime, and the
Bricktown team was defeated 132-126. A questionable designation indicates a
minimal 25 percent or less possibility of playing on the floor, according to the
NBA’s injury policy. Though the Thunder have scheduled a morning shootaround
that may provide additional insight into Gilgeous-Alexander’s condition, there is
still little chance that he will suit up against the Suns.
Even though Oklahoma City is in a fierce competition to win the Western
Conference, their main priority is to make sure their top player is healthy and
ready to go when the playoffs roll around. The Thunder’s trip to New York
for a Sunday matchup against the Knicks is next on the schedule. It is still unclear
if Gilgeous-Alexander will play in that matchup.
