BREAKING NEWS : Nantes vs, Lyon – prediction, SEE MORE….

Nantes’ visit to Stade de la Beaujoire on Sunday gives them the chance to close the gap between themselves and the relegation zone.

After defeating Nice 2-1 the previous weekend, la Maison Jaune moved up to 14th place in

Ligue 1, five points clear of Metz, who occupy the final relegation slot. Lyon, meantime, are

now in 10th place after a 1-1 draw with Reims.

In his first game in charge following Jocelyn Gourvennec’s dismissal, Antoine Kombouare’s

Nantes team halted a three-match losing streak last weekend, marking a solid start to his second spell as manager.

Les Canaris has only scored two goals at home in all competitions this year, meaning that

Nantes’ 2024 domestic points have all come from away from home.

Their current Ligue 1 losing streak of six games at Stade de la Beaujoire is the longest in

club history, and should they lose again on Sunday, they would join a select group of just

eight teams to have lost seven straight home games in the top flight of France.

They last won three points at home against Nice in December 2023, which was more than

four months ago. Since then, they haven’t won back-to-back league games.

In 2023–24, Nantes has won all but one of their home games when they have faced first

blood; their lone comeback victory came in September when they defeated Lorient 5–3.

With one less than Strasbourg, La Maison Jaune has won 40 Ligue 1 matches against

Lyon, which is the second-most wins for them against a single opponent in this tournament.

In their last three league games, Lyon had given up the first goal in each of their previous

three meetings, so they had to work hard to win a point last Saturday.

Only Eric Hely went a longer stretch without a draw in this league (21 games) when he took

over as coach of Sochaux in 2012. This was Pierre Sage’s first draw as the OL manager in his fifteenth top-flight game in charge.

Lyon has made up a lot of ground in the table since Sage took over, and if they can keep up

their winning ways, they could contend for a spot in Europe. Currently eight points back of

a Europa League place, their next four top-flight fixtures after Sunday are against sides

currently above them in the table (Brest, Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco, and Lille). OL are

unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions, and they advanced into the final

of the Coupe de France on Tuesday with a 3-0 victory over Valenciennes.
