Liverpool predicted XI vs Brighton: three big changes made as £35m star makes return

How Liverpool and Brighton could line up this weekend based on the latest injury news for each club.
When Liverpool hosts Brighton and Hove Albion for their first game after the international break on Sunday, they will once again be involved in the exciting Premier League title fight of this season. After an incredible nine years at the
helm, Jurgen Klopp will depart the team at the end of the season, and the Reds are
working hard to give him the best possible sendoff. Liverpool is now
second in the rankings, trailing Arsenal only in goal differential. They are one
point ahead of Manchester City, the defending champions, following their
intense league match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Liverpool cannot afford even one mistake between now and the conclusion of the season, as there is barely any separation between the three contenders for the trophy. City will host Arsenal on the day they play Brighton, which might give the story a further twist.
The Seagulls, who had a more difficult season than the previous one when they won European football for the first time, are currently playing catch up with the top six. Although Brighton and Liverpool have also experienced their fair share of injury issues, how might this impact their starting lineups on Sunday?

Liverpool injury news

This season, Liverpool has had one of the worst records for injuries due to absences of important players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, and Alisson. Due to a lack of options, Caoimhín Kelleher and Conor Bradley have both significantly improved this season. Nine players are listed as declared out or doubtful for Sunday’s game, including Andy Robertson, who has missed a significant portion of the season because of a shoulder ailment. While on international service, the Scot had an ankle issue; nonetheless, Klopp is ‘hopeful’ that it isn’t a major setback. But Liverpool might not want to take a chance on starting Robertson so soon, therefore he might not play this weekend.

Meanwhile, there have been positive talks surrounding Mohamed Salah and Darwin Núñez, who both missed the latest international fixtures to recover from their recent injuries. Both could start against Brighton as the Reds hope for a convincing to reclaim the Premier League top spot.

Liverpool predicted XI

Caoimhín Kelleher; Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konaté, Virgil van Dijk, Kostas Tsimikas, Wataru Endō, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Mohamed Salah, Luis Díaz, Darwin Núñez.

Brighton injury news

Roberto De Zerbi, who will meet with Liverpool for the first time since being linked with the soon-to-be vacant

manager role, also has fitness concerns within his team. Star winger Kaoru

Mitoma is out for the rest of the season with a back injury, while the likes of

Solly March and Jack Hinshelwood are also sidelined.

Brighton also had injury blows to former Liverpool duo James Milner and Adam Lallana but some positive updates have

dropped and both could be available for the visit to their old stomping ground.

João Pedro remains a doubt as he recovers from a thigh injury but many

are predicting (and hoping) he will just make it back in time to face the Reds.

De Zerbi may decide to shake up the lineup once more, maybe starting Jason Steele instead of Bart Verbruggen because the latter has been away on international duty. Pedro, who has scored 19 goals, will probably return to the starting lineup with Danny Welbeck, who most recently scored a consolation goal against Roma.

Brighton predicted XI

Jason Steele; Tariq Lamptey, Jan Paul van Hecke, Lewis Dunk, Pervis Estupiñán, Billy Gilmour, Pascal Groß,

Facundo Buonanotte, João Pedro, Danny Welbeck.
